IMMAF World Championship 2017 Officially in BAHRAIN

INTERNATIONAL Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) president Kerrith Brown, CEO Densign White and board member Wissam Abi Nader arrived yesterday to officially announce Bahrain as hosts of the fourth edition of World Championships of Amateur MMA in November.

The announcement was made at a press conference at 5.30pm Feb 6 at Sofitel Hotel in Zallaq.

The event was held under the patronage of first deputy president of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, honorary president of Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Association (BMMAA) and founder of Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts Organisation (KHK MMA) Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

“I am very happy to finally be able to officially confirm that the Kingdom of Bahrain is to play host to the 2017 IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA. An initial agreement was reached in 2015, and since then the Bahrain MMA Federation, with the support of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, has been an active agent both at IMMAF events and in the wider development of the sport of MMA. IMMAF’s relationship with the BMMAF has blossomed over ongoing discussions and negotiations that have led to  this moment. I would like to thank HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Isa Al
Khalifa for his committed support of IMMAF and the sport of MMA, and we very much look forward to working with the BMMAF and HHSK administration to prepare for a flagship world championship event at the close of the year.” said Mr.
Kerith Brown.

“I am very pleased to be in my second home, the Kingdom of Bahrain, to participate in the press conference to announce Bahrain as the hosts of this prestigious event. It will be held for the first time outside the US and for the first time at the level of the Asian continent, specifically in the Middle East,” said Mr. Densign White.

“The IMMAF took the decision after viewing Bahrain’s portfolio, which was the most outstanding from the rest of the countries nominated for hosting. Bahrain meets all requirements for hosting this event,” said Mr. Wissam Abi Nader.

Leading local and international media personalities attended the press conference and it was telecasted live on Bahrain Sports, through Bahrain TV, and Abu Dhabi Sports Channel.

Distinguished
media person Ghada Musalli, presenter of Good Morning Arabs on MBC channel, also attented as guests of honor along with Qatari media personality Mohammad Saadon Al Kuwari, one of the leading presenters on BEIN Sport sports channel.
