Ahmed Amir earns John Kavanagh's praise after Brave 9 win: 'Great fighter'
Lightweight Ahmed Amir's victory against Erik Carlsson at Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions was historical for "The Butcher" as he became the first-ever fighter to win three bouts inside the Brave cage. But his performance was also lauded by one of the sport's biggest coaches, who praised Amir after witnessing his fight live. SBG Ireland's John Kavanagh was in Bahrain as a coach and a guest and was left impressed by the Egyptian's heart and skill.

Kavanagh, who coaches superstar Conor McGregor, was quick to comment on Amir's performance through social media after Brave Combat Federation's official Instagram profile posted a picture with one of his post-fight quotes.

"(Ahmed Amir) showed amazing heart and determination, great fighter", posted Kavanagh on Brave's profile.

The Irish MMA pioneer had two of his fighters competing at Brave 9, and SBG Ireland came out of the groundbreaking show with a win, as Frans Mlambo beat Michael Deiga-Scheck, and one loss, with Daniele Scatizzi beaten by Charlie Leary. Kavanagh also helped the Ireland team at the IMMAF World Championships.

Coach Kavanagh's words were just one of many compliments Amir received after also winning a post-fight performance bonus in a night full of finishes, even though he won by decision. His beaten foe, Erik Carlsson, was also praised by the Irish trainer, who reached out to him and his team after Brave 9, to congratulate the Swede and say his battle with Amir was the show's best fight.
